Here’s a picture of how the helmet safety light is wired to your helmet using your existing short heated shield cord. Power enters the female RCA connector of the LED light kit and splits within the helmet safety light wiring harness. The kit comes with a highly flexible male RCA connector that plugs directly into your heated shield. When you plug into your sled, you power up both the safety light and the heated shield. The HSL is super efficient and only uses 1/2 watt of power. This doesn’t effect the function of the heated shield.
LED hELMET SAFETY LIGHT
be seen, even in snow dust! No more rear-end collisions because of bad visibility.
Powered by your existing heated shield cord, our kit uses the existing power from your snowmobile to power both the heated shield and LED Helmet Safety Light. Your existing heated shield cord plugs directly into our helmet light kit and a separate flexible silicone cord plugs directly into your heated shield port, powering both without compromising the heated shield’s function. The LED Light only uses 1/2 watt of power, due to the highly efficient custom LED diodes made specifically for us by our manufacturer. Unlike some helmets with built in, battery powered LED’s currently available, our helmet safety light is powered by your snowmobile, allowing it to be much brighter and always on, making you more visible to other riders on the trail.
Think about it….riding in snow creates snow dust, reducing visibility. The colder it gets or the faster you go, snow dust becomes an issue for everyone. Your tail light, because it’s mounted low, becomes covered in snow dust within minutes, making it very difficult for other riders in your group to see you. Because our LED strip mounts on the back of almost any snowmobile helmet, this places a highly visible colored light high up above the existing tail light and cutting through snow dust, making you more visible to riders behind you. This makes riding in groups much safer as well as making you and your group much more visible to other riders approaching you from behind.

The HELMET SAFETY LIGHT Story:
Invented by LJE Products owner, Lenn Johnson. Back in 2014, Lenn and his brothers Doug, Pete, and Dan Johnson, along with friends Craig Peabody, Curt Bonnell, Mike Muncey, Mike Rose, and others were on an annual snowmobile trip to Curt’s camp in Millinocket Maine. Every year we would experience a rear end collision in the group, due to the heavy snow dust encountered in the cold, early February trail conditions. You know the scenario: The front rider see’s a deer in the trail and hits the brakes, the rest of us in the rear, blinded by tons of snow dust, scramble all over the trail trying not hit each other, while slowing down rapidly. Lenn, looking to prevent more of these “Oh-Shit” moments, stuck a red LED strip to the back of his helmet and used a simple RCA splitter to power everything up using the heated shield cord already on his helmet. As the trip progressed, everyone began to comment on how the helmet light was helping the other riders behind him in the extreme snow dust conditions. After the trip, Lenn made up a few more helmet lights for the group on his kitchen table. He handed them out the following weekend on a trip to Pittsburg, NH. Now, with everyone wearing them, it became obvious he was on to something. With over 3500+ lights sold to date, other snowmobilers have also discovered how the our LED helmet safety light makes the sport of snowmobiling safer.
